Below are the different types of volunteers that are needed to make a full hospitality team.
Each area has its own “on-the-job” training to make everything easy to understand.
Communion Assistants
Hope offers communion in the celebration services the first weekend of each month, while the traditional service in the Chapel celebrates communion each week. There are up to six communion stations in the Chapel. Celebration services in the Worship Center have up to 23 stations. Each station has someone to distribute the bread and someone to serve wine and grape juice. Serving communion is very simple – everything is written out for you so you know exactly what to do and say. Depending on the service you want to help with, you will either serve once a month or once every other month.
Hospitality Teams
This year we are going to one big hospitality team instead of smaller groups. The hospitality teams consist of greeters and ushers with captains to lead each group. The captain will contact you the week before you are to serve and place you where you are most comfortable but also the best place to help welcome everyone to worship. Working as a team makes it easy to get connected to others. The areas include:
Greeters welcome people as they come in the doors, shake hands and help Hope’s guests feel at home. Many greeters are needed to help greet and welcome everyone who walks in the door. Some greeters are also being asked to help with offering. Greeters serve once a month.
Ushers help seat people, hand out bulletins, help collect the offering, and assist the congregation where needed. Up to 20 ushers are needed during most of the services in the Worship Center. Traditional services in the Chapel need up to six ushers. Teams serve once a month, on the same weekend each month. Each team needs more help as Hope continues to grow.
Welcome Center Assistants
Many visitors and attenders stop by the Welcome Center with questions such as “Where is Kingdom Quest?” or “Do you have something that describes all the classes here at the church?” All the materials you’ll need to answer these questions are right in front of you. If you can’t find the answer, you can simply let the person know that you will pass the question on and have someone contact him or her on Monday with the information. Assistants work in teams of two, and they serve one weekend per month.
Parking Attendants
The “parkers” are individuals who help in Hope’s parking lot on Sunday mornings, between the 8:00 and 9:15 am services and again between the 9:15 and 11:00 am services. There are four teams, with each team taking one weekend per month. They assist drivers in finding parking spots and make sure pedestrians are able to cross safely. Joining the parking team is a great way to meet others and get connected to a group.
