Joel, Angie, Carly, Samuel and Anna O'Dell Hope members for 7 years
In September, God will be leading the O’Dell family to Jamaica to begin an “adventure” of service as Directors at the Robin’s Nest Children’s Home. Joel, Angie and their three children (Carly – age 12, Samuel – age 7 and Anna – age 16 months) are following God’s call to serve – a call that was first placed on their hearts on Sept. 14, 2008 when Pastor Mike asked in a sermon, “When your life is over will you have lived the life God has gifted you and called you to?” After the sermon, they decided to follow the path God was asking of them but they had no idea where this path would lead.
What pointed them to Jamaica and the Robin’s Nest Children’s Home was their participation in the January 2009 Mission Jamaica trip. On the last day of that trip, they had the opportunity to visit Robin’s Nest to deliver some quilts made by Hope’s Stitchin’ Mission group. As soon as they walked in the doors of the Home, they felt a sense of “home.” Upon inquiring about the needs of Robin’s Nest, they were informed the current directors would be leaving in June. Separately Joel and Angie began visioning how they could use their spiritual gifts and talents for Robin’s Nest. When their shared their visions with one another, they sat in awe of what God had just done in their lives. They knew moving their family to Jamaica and becoming the directors of Robin’s Nest was the “adventure”, the life God had gifted and called them to.
Beginning in October 2009, we will be making Mission Robin's Nest a new mission trip opportunity. Mission Robin's Nest's 2009 and 2010 dates are as follows:
