What is Mission Uganda?
Mission Uganda is a partnership between Lutheran Church of Hope and ChildVoice International. This is an opportunity for us to spread the love of Christ to children whose lives have been torn apart by war in northern Uganda. Join with ChildVoice as we create a community of hope for former child soldiers and their families.
Where do we go and what do we do?
You will travel to a small rural area north of Gulu in northern Uganda where ChildVoice is bringing hope to the people through medical services, education, agricultural projects, a residential program for children, and worship and Bible study. There will be opportunities to serve in a variety of ways, including working at a medical clinic, helping with agricultural projects, working alongside educators as they teach young adults basic reading, writing and math, facilitating Bible studies, prayer and/or worship time, help with care of infants and young children, joining in to support Centre staff with sewing, cooking, etc., and/or helping to construct new buildings.

Who can go?
Anyone 18 years or older who has a heart for spreading God's love to remote parts of the globe.
This is your opportunity to experience Africa up close and personal. Your meals will be prepared by the Ugandan staff and woman residents of the Centre.
What travel documents do I need?
A current U.S. passport is required. A temporary Visa will be purchased upon landing in Uganda. Click here for more information on acquiring a passport.
What immunizations do I need?
Preventive medicine for malaria is mandatory. A yellow fever vaccination is recommended but is not required for entry into Uganda. It is recommended that you be up to date with your tetanus and Hepatitis B vaccinations. Other vaccinations, such as typhoid and meningitis are optional. Click here to go to the vaccination page of the Center for Disease Control.
What is the cost?
Cost is estimated to be $3,000 - $3,500, depending on airfare. This cost includes roundtrip airfare from Des Moines, hotel in Kampala on the way in and out of Uganda, ground transportation, all food and water, cost for the Visa, and a small contribution to the program costs of ChildVoice. Vaccinations, malaria medication, added tourist excursions and souvenirs are an additional cost.
