Mission South Africa is a chance to serve God and the children and communities of South Africa in partnership with Blessman Ministries, Inc.
Where do we go and what do we do?
Trips to South Africa can include either optical outreach or construction of Abod units. Following each week-long outreach, teams will have the opportunity to stay at the Shikwaru Game Lodge for relaxation and a photo safari. The Shikwaru Game Lodge is owned by Blessman Ministries’ partner, Reaching a Generation. Profits from the farm are used to help fund a broad range of relief and social services for the children of South Africa.
The optical outreach trips utilize Blessman Ministries’ vision ministry in the public schools of South Africa. No professional training is required; training will be available to all team members to perform various tasks in the clinic. The clinics are often held in public schools. Each team member will have the opportunity to sit one-on-one with a child to screen their vision and share the love of Christ.
The construction trips are a new outreach tool for Blessman Ministries.
Construction is generally focused in Blessmans' orphan care communities. Blessman is testing out a different design consisting of one large building that houses the children and the caregiver under one roof. The building will be constructed of bricks made from compressed earth. If funding is secured, the July 2010 trip may include construction.
