Mission South Africa

TRIP INFO
|
What is Mission South Africa?
Mission South Africa is a chance to serve God and the children and communities of South Africa in partnership with Blessman Ministries, Inc.
Where do we go and what do we do?
This trip is a partnership between Hope and Blessman Ministries in Urbandale. Team members will serve orphans and vulnerable children through optical ministry, feeding center ministry and service projects/construction all in one trip. All necessary training will be provided; no professional training is required. Teams will have the opportunity to visit the Shikwaru Game Lodge for a photo safari and may have the option to walk with lions, ride elephants and go on a big five game photo safari.
Optical Ministry:
This ministry utilizes Blessman Ministries’ optical care ministry through the public schools of South Africa. Team members will have the opportunity through this ministry to minister to children one-on-one.
Feeding Center Ministry:
Team members will minister to children from ages 3-16 through feeding centers and preschools. Team members will play with the children, help with meal preparation, prepare or participate in a Bible lesson, provide assistance with homework and minister to the children.
Service Projects/Construction:
Every team will have a couple of service days on their trip. Projects will vary but may include things such as building a playground at one of the churches or things such as cleaning or painting at feeding centers. Currently, Blessman Ministries, with the help of Lutheran Church of Hope, is constructing a 40-bed team dormitory to help house additional ministry teams. People interested in doing more hard labor construction will be able to assist with this project.
