What is Mission Rio Grande?
An opportunity to serve God by helping the most impoverished residents in El Paso, Texas. We will be working with the Cristo Rey Lutheran Church, an ELCA congregation in the heart of a low-income Hispanic district of El Paso.

Who can go?
Anyone with a heart for Jesus. Children ages 12 or older if accompanied by a parent/guardian. No construction experience is necessary.
What is the trip like?
Missionaries will fly or drive to El Paso, Texas (these travel arrangements are to be made individually). Hope will make hotel reservations.
Missionaries may work on a variety of projects including but not limited to: construction, assisting with an after-school enrichment program, adult Bible studies and outreach within the El Paso community. Team members will also participate in worship and fellowship with the Cristo Rey congregation.
Where do we stay?
Two nights are spent in a hotel in El Paso. The remaining nights are spent in a dormitory-style building at Cristo Rey.
Do I need construction skills?
A willingness to learn is all that is required. Everyone pitches in and you can learn new things!
What is the cost of the trip?
The estimated cost of the trip is $350 per person, which includes:
- Lodging in El Paso
- Food at Cristo Rey
- Transportation in El Paso
- T-shirt
- Required Missionary Insurance
Additional costs can include:
- Additional meals while in El Paso
- Transportation to El Paso (fly or drive)
- Other expenditures, such as souvenirs, are at your discretion
How do I sign up?
You can register online or print a registration form by clicking here and turning the form in at the front office. A $150.00 non-refundable deposit is due with your registration. Information sheets and registration forms can also be found at the Mission Center. Background checks will be conducted by Hope on all mission trip applicants ages 18 and older. This is to ensure the safety and protection of all mission team members and the people we serve. If you’ve had a background check run by Hope in the last three years, a new one will not be needed.
Space is limited to 20 missionaries.
