What is Mission Navajo?
It is an opportunity for Christians to share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ with the people of the Navajo nation by coming alongside them and helping with both their physical and spiritual needs. Missionaries travel to Gallup, New Mexico and work at various sites on and around the Navajo Nation Reservation. We are currently working in partnership with Christian Reformed churches located in Tohlakai, Church Rock and Ft. Wingate, New Mexico.

How do we get to Gallup?
Members of the mission team are responsible for their own transportation to Gallup. Options include:
Drive – 1,250 miles (with an overnight stay)
Fly – Into Albuquerque (with a car rental)
Train – Directly to Gallup

What skills are required?
While we have some need for carpentry and construction skills, there is enough work for anyone, regardless of skill level. Planned projects for 2011 include repairs for homes of Navajo people and miscellaneous repairs at the church. Work might also be completed at a local food bank, homeless shelter and Navajo Children's Home and home visits to needy people. VBS is conducted during the family trips.

What is the cost?
Cost is $170 ($120 for youth ages 12 and under). This fee includes meals in Gallup (Sunday through Friday), lodging at Rehoboth Christian School, t-shirt and insurance. Team members plan their own transportation to and from Gallup. Round trip travel by vehicle is estimated at $375, plus one night hotel stay (approximately $75) and meals while en route.

The $170.00 non-refundable payment (or $120 for youth) is due upon registration. Registration forms can also be found at the Mission Center. Background checks will be conducted by Hope on all mission trip applicants ages 18 and older. This is to ensure the safety and protection of all mission team members and the people we serve. If you’ve had a background check run by Hope in the last three years, a new one will not be needed.
