Coming Soon: Souper Bowl Food Drive 2010 Get ready to rumble! The Souper Bowl Food Drive is back! In early February, you will want to rumble to your local grocery store and pick up a bag of food for local food pantries. Watch your bulletins for more information or check back here in January. If you are interested in helping make the 2010 Souper Bowl Food Drive a big success, e-mail Missions. Volunteers will be needed to organize, sort and deliver the donations.

Opportunity to volunteer locally: Transition Servicesis a pilot volunteer program with Lutheran Services in Iowa. The program is designed to help newly arrived refugee families in Des Moines. Volunteers take individuals and families to follow-up medical and immunization appointments, help them acquire state ID cards and assist them in setting up bank accounts. Volunteers thus play an integral role in helping refugee families become self-sufficient while adjusting to life in the United States. This volunteer position carries a two-month commitment of a few hours a week and training is provided.
