What is a Life Group?
Life Groups at Lutheran Church of Hope are the primary opportunity for growth through connection with believers and followers, Christ-centered study, prayer and service.

Who can be in a Life Group?
Everyone is welcome in a Life Group.

How long are Life Groups supposed to stay together?
We recommend that Life Groups stay together for a minimum of one Life Cycle – which is one year.

Where do Life Groups meet?
The majority of Life Groups meet off campus.

How many groups should I be in?
If a person is married and only in one group, we encourage a married group. Being part of a Life Group is one of the best ways to grow and strengthen your marriage. We also understand that for some couples this is not possible. Perhaps one person is not interested in joining a group or not able to attend because of a work schedule. Then you are welcome to be in a men’s or women’s group. We simply want to raise the value for married couples because it’s so important. If you are able to be in more than one group, you are welcome to branch into men’s and women’s groups.

How many people should be in a Life Group?
We recommend a Life Group have 7-12 people in it. Why? Based on research and lots of conversation, this size provides the best opportunity for healthy relationship to form and fulfill the purpose of Life Groups.

How often do Life Groups meet?
Life Groups meet weekly during Seasons. See the
Life Cycle and Seasons page for more details.

What do Life Groups study?
The Adult Ministry team has a list of Recommended Resources for Life Groups

One of the other most common questions is “When is our next ‘Connection Series’ at Hope?”  A Connection Series is when everyone studies the sermon from the weekend services.

Since groups have enjoyed the Connection Series so much, we will supply Sermon Discussion questions for every season – so every “Season” is just like a “connection series!”  We know many people love having this resource and we believe there are many benefits to studying the sermon, including the following:

  • Everyone prepares – if you attend the weekend worship service or watch it or listen online – you have prepared for the discussion.
  • It gets many people going in the same direction and studying the same thing – it creates momentum.  Something happens when many people are doing the same thing.  It makes a buzz and excitement in the Hope community.  We love to fuel excitement for the Word – if this helps that energy, we will do it.
  • This type of study reaches all kinds of people – many people come to Hope for worship services – why not make the most of this opportunity by helping people process the message and take it deeper into our hearts and daily life.
