STOP! Read this before you start!
Thank you for choosing to study the weekend message in your Life Group!
Here are a few pointers as you begin:
- Have a good study Bible. We recommend the Life Application Study Bible or any at Café Hope that has good study notes.
- If you have Internet access, we recommend using www.biblegateway.com to help with commentary notes. This site in mentioned in the questions. You may want to become familiar with this as it is a user-friendly biblical resource and a wonderful way to access other translations.
- In case you miss the weekend message, watch online at hopeonline.tv or listen to it online in a podcast.
- These questions are written based on the Scripture text; not the sermon itself. The questions are written weeks ahead of time. That is why there is a "notes" page before every set of questions. I dare you to take sermon notes. Taking your own notes will help you get the most out of the Word that is preached and help you apply it to your life.
- Each study is broken up into 3 different sections:
Opening – 15 minutes
• This is designed to reflect on the previous week's application and build a bridge into this week's sermon and lesson.
Into the Word – 30 minutes
• These Scriptures take the sermon to a deeper level.
• Come up with as many questions/observations as you can. Be curious about the Scriptures.
• Don’t feel like you need to answer all the questions you come up with.
• If you have questions about the Scripture, use other Scriptures to find the answers –
using your study Bible with cross-references is a great tool for this!
Application – 15 minutes
• These questions are just that – Application – internalize what you have heard and live it out.
