What is ASP?
The Appalachia Service Project is a Christian home repair ministry through which volunteers and staff repair homes for low-income families in rural Central Appalachia. The goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier while offering transformational experiences for volunteers and families alike.

Trip dates: July 26-August 2, 2008 to Jonesville, VA.

Thurs., May 15: 6:30-8:00 pm - Training for all participants (Room 215)
Saturday, June 7: Work project at Riverside Bible Camp

Tues., July 22: 6:00-8:00 pm - Training and planning meeting
Who can go?
Anyone with a heart for Jesus and 18 years of age or older. No construction experience is necessary. According to Romans 12, we all have different gifts and all spiritual gifts are welcome on this trip.
What is the trip like?
30 missionaries will travel to Jonesville, VA and stay at the ASP Center. Teams of 6-7 people work on home repair projects such as room additions, building wheelchair ramps or retaining walls, repairing roofs, walls or floors.
Teams leave from Des Moines on Saturday morning and travel to Lexington, Kentucky by vans where the team will spend the night. Sunday, the team holds a worship service at a national park and then travels on to the ASP Center.
Monday through Friday, teams work on home repairs for a family. Evenings are spent in fellowship with fellow missionaries from Hope and other churches.
Teams return home to Des Moines on the following Saturday.
What is the cost of the trip?
Total cost of the trip is approximately $400.00.
