Care Core Ministry

The Carecore consists of trained care ministers who provide support and spiritual guidance to people who are in need. After completing 25 hours of training, care ministers are commissioned for service. Newly commissioned care ministers are: Della Uhlenhopp, Marcia Roerig, Katherine Johnson, Christy Wilkins, Rick Klouda, Monique Elgersma, Rick Elgersma, Craig Morkert, Nancy Hoegh, Todd Murray, Connie Friar, Larry Hockersmith, Cathy Wall and Susan Miller.

Care ministers are paired with care receivers by gender and one-on-one. Receivers may be experiencing a variety of challenges such as job loss, grief, loneliness, depression, health concerns or other stresses. All information is kept confidential.

An expanding part of the Carecore ministry is monthly worship services at four assisted living facilities in the metro area. The services, which include communion, are held at Courtyard Estates in Bondurant, Legacy Pointe in Waukee, Gardens at Luther Park and Edgewater in West Des Moines.

Care ministers meet once a month for continuing education, fellowship, mutual support and encouragement. An annual retreat provides growth, renewal and some fun.

Carecore’s next training session will be offered on Monday evenings from February 6 to April 2 and Saturday afternoons from February 11 to April 7.  Click here for details.
