Connections at Hope

CONNECTIONS MINISTRY

We were made to be in community. Regardless of your interests or stage in life, being a part of a community is important to the way God designs us. We truly are better when we are connected together (John 17: 20-23).

At Hope, we connect in part through small groups. Small groups gather together as a smaller community, build relationships, study and grow, pray for each other and the church and serve wherever they feel Godleads them.

• Prayer • Fellowship • Study • Service

Below are the different options for getting connected into a group at Hope.

The Alpha Course is the first option for getting into a small group. Alpha is a 10- week course that focuses on the fundamentals of Christianity and is the foundational course for all ministries at Hope. See page 7 for details. Even if you’ve been a Christian your entire life, we encourage you to complete Alpha. It provides a small group experience along with a common language and understanding of Hope. If you’ve already taken Alpha, consider inviting someone to take Alpha with you, becoming a host, or joining one of the teams (prayer, kitchen, etc) that support Alpha.

The Gathering is especially for those people who’ve taken Alpha but need a new group for whatever reason. After discussing the expectations of small groups, you can be placed in a new small group that will meet on-site for six weeks. Upon completion of the study, individuals are given the opportunity to continue with the group or opt out. The next Gathering will be held in September. Stay tuned for details.

Men’s, Women’s, Singles, and 50+ Ministries all are organized around and focused on learning, praying, serving, and connecting in small groups. Check the ministries’ pages for places you can be connected.

People can form their own small groups. We help by supplying small group leader training, both as an intro to small groups as well as periodic on-going training dealing with specific issues. We also have the first year’s worth of DVD-based curriculum to help groups get started.

Activity groups are a great place for people who are interested in gathering for the sake of social connection and fellowship. Many groups with a wide variety of interests and hobbies are available. Visit www.hopewdm.org/groups to begin.
