Purpose: Ignition Small Group Leaders empower high school students to not only pursue their faith, but to reach out to the world around them with the everlasting love of Jesus Christ.
Qualifications
- Regularly attends Lutheran Church of Hope, committed to the church’s teachings, mission and values
- A positive example for students in putting Jesus first (Luke 6:40)
- Dedicated to worshipping God, not tradition, no matter where He leads us (Psalm 100:4)
- Relationally driven to build the kingdom, living as one body united in Jesus Christ (John 13)
- A desire to passionately pursue lost students who matter to God and our ministry (Col. 3:23)
- An authentic and growing faith, willing to admit none of us have all the answers (Phil. 3:13-14)
- A heart and passion for high school students and their families
Responsibilities
- Attend weekly Ignition Worship Gathering
- Prepare for and facilitate weekly small group discussion at House Group
- Connect with each member of your small group once a week outside of Sundays
- Pray consistently for your small group
- Attend all training meetings and huddles
- Shepherd your students with regular and thoughtful intervention
- Lead your small group during at least one annual ministry event (30 hour Famine, Souper Bowl, etc)
- Stay in contact with your House Group Leader
Success Defined
- A healthy small group environment where students can experience God, community and mission
- Seeing students begin and/or deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ
Time Commitment: approximately 5.25 hours per week from Aug.. 29 – May 15
- Sunday Ignition Worship Gathering (4:45-6:00 pm) and House Group (6:30-8:00 pm): 3.25 hours
- Weekly contact work (phone calls, emails, notes, etc): 1 hour
- Ignition prep (reading through the lesson, prayer): 1/2 hour
- Attend UNLEASH '10: Aug. 25 - Times 6:30-8:30pm
