Ignition Volunteer - House Group Leader Description

 

Purpose: Ignition House Group Leaders shepherd and support Ignition Small Group Leaders as they empower high school students to not only pursue their faith, but to reach out to the world around them with the everlasting love of Jesus Christ. 

 

Qualifications

  • Regularly attends Lutheran Church of Hope, committed to the church’s teachings, mission and values
  • A desire to equip adult volunteers to maximize their impact on students and their families
  • Ability to organize and engage students and volunteers in a manner consistent with the ministry vision
  • A positive example for students in putting Jesus first (Luke 6:40)
  • Dedicated to worshipping God, not tradition, no matter where He leads us (Psalm 100:4)
  • Relationally driven to build the kingdom, living as one body united in Jesus Christ (John 13)
  • A desire to passionately pursue lost students who matter to God and our ministry (Col. 3:23)
  • An authentic and growing faith, willing to admit none of us have all the answers (Phil. 3:13-14)

 

Responsibilities

  • Connect with your small group leaders weekly to encourage, cast vision and equip them
  • Shepherd your leaders on two levels
    • Individually through one-on-one conversation and prayer
    • Corporately through leading group huddles on Sunday afternoons
  • Prepare for and facilitate weekly Ignition House Group
  • Attend all scheduled training meetings and huddles
  • Work with Student Ministry staff to recruit, build and develop your leadership team
  • Attend weekly Ignition Worship Gathering, assisting as needed
  • Recruit and maintain positive relationships with your Host and Hospitality Coordinator
  • Stay in contact with your selected Student Ministry staff member 

 

Success Defined

  • Building a leadership community capable and willing to reach out to the world around them with the everlasting love of Jesus Christ
  • Maintaining a healthy and growing House Group in which new students feel welcome and included  

 

Time Commitment: approximately 6-7 hours per week from Aug 29th – May 15

  • Sunday Ignition Pre-Game Meeting (4:15-4:45), Worship Gathering (4:45-6:00 pm) and House Group (6:30-8:00 pm): 3.75 hours
  • Weekly preparation and contact work (devotions, phone calls, emails, notes, etc): 2-3 hours
  • Attend UNLEASH 10: August 25th - Times 6:30-8:30pm
