Searching for a new or better career can be a bummer. Often in our journey to reach the elusive “dream job”, we stumble through
the valleys of frustration and despair waiting and wondering when, if ever, we will reach our destination. Fortunately, God has
plans for us…for good and not calamity, for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Our valleys can turn into victories.
On Saturday, November 8, Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines will host a job fair and seminar with the theme
"Journey to Success – Valleys and Victories". The event is centered on the ups and downs of the career search process. As
much as we want smooth sailing in finding a great vocation, we almost always run into rough seas. But, in those rough seas,
God wants us to turn into the wind and seek Him for guidance and direction. During those rough times He wants to show us
just how much He loves us. During those times of frustration and despair, God will reassure us, give us a bigger perspective,
and let us know that indeed it’s not “about me”. It’s about giving God glory and building His Kingdom.
The Seminar will include outstanding speakers who have walked through the valleys of patience and perseverance to climb up
and experience God’s mountain-top victories in their lives and careers. Their testimonies and stories will promise to inspire,
give hope, and encourage those attending to step forward in faith and keep moving toward their goals.
After the seminar (held in “The Bridge”), attendees will be directed to the job fair (in the atrium near the new worship center).
The job fair will host over 40 employers and employment agencies from around the greater Des Moines area.
