Mark Hoffschneider, 50+ Ministry Coordinator
Mark and his wife Mila became members of Hope in 2003. Mark says “it only took one visit to know that Hope was going to become their church home. Hope absolutely feels like family, unlike anything we have ever previously experienced.”
Mark joined the staff of Hope 2007. When he retired in 2006 he says the plan was to “really retire”. But, God had a different plan. After serving on a Hope task force, Mark became aware of his passion for ministry and serving. “It is so exciting to watch how God will engage and grow us when we surrender and follow Him. In Jeremiah 29:11 God promises that His plans are “will include plans to give you both hope and a future”. That promise includes replacing retirement with reFIREment!”
Mark grew up in Seward, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1975. Shortly after graduation, he and his wife Mila (a registered nurse) were married and he began his financial services industry career in Lincoln, Nebraska. Over the next several years, job transfers and changes relocated them to various areas throughout Nebraska, New Jersey, Illinois and Iowa.
In 1996 his employment brought them to the Des Moines area. They live on a small acreage in Johnston, and they both thoroughly enjoy the gardening, yard work and “tinkering” associated with living on an acreage. They have 2 adult children, Josh and Leah, who both live in Scottsdale (a great place to visit…in the winter).
